Teresa Tam brings more to the table than her extensive list of degrees, performances,
and accomplishments. A lifelong musician from Taiwan, she began studying piano and violin as a child and fell in love with singing while performing regularly at the Taiwan National Concert Hall with the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus. After moving to the United States, she continued her vocal and violin studies, eventually earning a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from UC Davis and a
Master’s in Vocal Performance from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts.

While pursuing her professional path, Teresa faced a major challenge—a vocal cord injury that threatened her singing career. Through rehabilitation, she gained profound physical awareness and insight, which now informs her teaching philosophy. Teresa strongly believes vocal health should
be the foundation for all singers, regardless of genre or level. Having had to rediscover her own voice, she brings empathy, precision, and intention to her teaching, helping students access
their instrument with greater confidence and control.

Teresa made her professional debut as a soprano soloist with the American Bach Soloists during her undergraduate years and has since performed with ensembles including the Boston University Haydn Conference, Cambridge Concentus, UC Davis Baroque Ensemble, and Early Music Ensemble. Her musical interests span classical, jazz, folk, and tango. In the San Francisco
Bay Area, she has collaborated with the Skyline College Jazz Band, Soundscape Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and several tango groups such as Orquesta Típica Domo, Corazón Tango,
Maxi Larrea Trio, and Duo Telar.

Her latest project is a cross-cultural collaboration with bandoneonist Obadiah Díaz Wrynla and violinist Basma Edrees, blending musical traditions and storytelling from around the world. Teresa is also certified in Estill Voice Training (Figure Proficiency) and continues to pursue her passion for performance and education across genres.
